Lavacchio
Lavacchio
Lavacchio
Lavacchio was mentioned for the first time in a document dated 14th June 1034 "...locus qui dicitur Lavaclo...", but the name probably derives from "Lavacrum", a Latin term indicating the area of a Roman camp where the horses were watered and the legionaries washed. The 'Fenced Tower' served as a lookout over the Pistoia-Modena road and the openings of the Scoltenna valley. It was a visible link with the other towers and castles in the Castro Feroniano defensive system.
