In questa frazione di Serrazzone esisteva un castello i cui resti sono testimoniati dal pregevole borghetto costruito sugli antichi ruderi.

Il nome di questa località deriva infatti dalla storpiatura linguistica di "Castel d'Azzo", nome con il quale era chiamato un tempo questo insediamento fortificato.

L'ubicazione strategica di questo sito, posto com'è su un poggio ai piedi del quale passava uno dei rami che conduceva a Fanano dell'antica Via Romea, rimane ad ulteriore conferma dell'origine difensiva di questo centro.

This outlying ward of Serrazzone was once home to a castle, whose ruins provided the site for the wonderful village there today. The name of the locality comes from the deformation of the words "Castel d'Azzo", which was what the fortress settlement was originally called.

The strategic position of this place, on a knoll at the foot of which passed by one of the branches of the Via Romea road leading to Fanano, is further reason for believing that this place had defensive origins.
