La Rocca risale almeno al XIII secolo ed ha rappresentato la residenza dei Conti Cesis, feudatari di Gombola dal 1416 su investitura di Nicolò III D'Este che destituì la potente famiglia Da Gomola  signori fino a quel momento di queste terre.

The castle dates back to the 13^th century and was the residence of the Cesis counts, who had been feudal lords of Gombola since 1416, when Nicolò III D'Este dismissed the Da Gomola family, the previous feudal proprietors.
