Così scrive, nei primi anni del '700, Domenico Vandelli insigne matematico e scienziato : "...La maniera, con la quale si scoprì l'Acqua minerale di Brandola, fu accidentale nell'anno 1448, mentre colà essendo nata un'epidemia ne' Buoi con orina sanguigna, tutti quei, che bevevano di essa acqua, guarivano, gli altri morivano; onde da' circonvicini luoghi concorrevano Pastori ad abbeverare gli ammalati animali. Da questi il rimedio passò negli Uomini...".

Insigni dottori e cerusici del passato studiarono ed apprezzarono le proprietà di quest'acqua curativa che risultava avere effetti  miracolosi  nella cura delle vie urinarie sia per problemi alla vescica che per calcolosi  renale.

Alcuni studiosi sostengono che l'acqua di Brandola fu la prima in Italia ad essere imbottigliata e commercializzata come acqua minerale curativa ed anche, come riporta lo stesso Vandelli, la prima ad essere contraffatta.

At the beginning of the XVIII Century, the great mathematician and scientist Domenico Vandelli wrote this about Brandola water: "...The way in which Brandola mineral water was discovered, in 1448,  was quite accidental. At the time there was an epidemic among the cattle, which was causing blood in their urine. All the animals who drank this water, were cured, while the others died. Shepherds from the surrounding areas hurried there to bring back the water to their sick animals. After this, the usage was taken up to people...".

In the past, learned doctors and surgeons studied the properties of this healing water and used it often. It was known to have had almost miraculous effects in the treatment of urinary diseases, bladder problems and gallstones.

Some scholars say that Brandola water was the first to be bottled and marketed in Italy as healing mineral water. It was also, as Vandelli revealed, the first to be counterfeited.
