Lago Cavo
Lago Cavo
Lago Cavo
This small, circular lake is situated upstream of the old Via Vandelli road and at the foot of the north-eastern slope of Monte Rovinoso. Apart from those that lie in the lee of the Tuscan-Emilian watershed, this is the zone's biggest natural reservoir. On the southern shore of the lake, level with tributary, there is a peat-bog almost as large as the lake, which at the right time of the year, is completely covered with pondweed (Potomogeton). The banks of the lake are rich in the types of vegetation typical to humid zones, and horsetails and rushes have colonised the areas most suitable for their survival.
